Phillip Ngonisa

Dr Phillip Ngonisa holds a PhD in Economics, a Master’s degree in Economics, an Honours degree in Economics (cum laude), and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics (cum laude), all obtained from the University of Fort Hare, South Africa. His research interests include development economics, climate risk, and financial resilience.

Dr Ngonisa has a particular interest in applying rigorous economic theory and empirical methods to real-world African challenges, including inflation dynamics, exchange rate volatility, climate shocks, and financial inclusion. He has contributed to the scholarly community through publications in peer-reviewed journals and is known as a pragmatic, policy-oriented researcher whose work bridges theory and practice.

The establishment of Decipher Research Centre was motivated by the growing need for independent, evidence-based legal and policy analysis capable of bridging the gap between academic research and real-world governance challenges in Zimbabwe and comparable jurisdictions.
