Dr F Hamadziripi

Dr Friedrich Hamadziripi is a Corporate and Commercial Law Expert, Corporate Trainer, Consultant, Educator and Published Author. He is a Senior Law Lecturer, erstwhile Chairperson of the Department of Legal Undergraduate Programmes (2022 – 2025) in the Law Faculty at the University of Zimbabwe, a Peer Reviewer at the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE) (2024-2027) and a Councillor at the Council for Legal Education (2025 – 2028). Dr Hamadziripi acquired the degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD) from the University of Fort Hare. He was also a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow for two years at the North-West University (NWU), South Africa. Dr Hamadziripi’s research interests lie in Corporate Law, Commercial Law and Banking Law. He has provided expert opinion and consultancy services for various companies in Zimbabwe and has conducted numerous workshops and seminars on several contemporary corporate and commercial law areas such as ESG, directors’ duties and liability, corporate insolvency and debt restructuring. Dr Hamadziripi was the lead author of the book “A Practical Guide to Effective Legal Research, Analysis and Writing” and editor of two other authoritative books, “Aspects of Contemporary Company Law in Zimbabwe” and “Contemporary Perspectives on Banking Law in Zimbabwe”. To date, he has published more than twenty-five journal articles in several high-impact international journals. Dr Hamadziripi has also published more than ten book chapters in books published by, inter alia, Juta and Routledge publishers. His work has been cited by severalcscholars and international organisations. He has attended and presented papers at several local and international conferences including the first, second and third Corporate & Financial Markets Law (CFML) International Conferences; the second International Conference on FinTech Law; the 2021 Global Forum for Financial Consumers (GFFC); the 14th AEDBF International Conference on Contemporary Approaches in Banking and Financial Law; the 2021 Private Law and Social Justice Conference; the 2022 African Network of Constitutional Lawyers Annual Conference University of Namibia; the 5th, 6th and 9th Annual International Mercantile Law Conferences and the inaugural Banking, Competition and Corporate Law (BCCL) Conference.

The establishment of Decipher Research Centre was motivated by the growing need for independent, evidence-based legal and policy analysis capable of bridging the gap between academic research and real-world governance challenges in Zimbabwe and comparable jurisdictions.
